Ife South Local Government came into existence on May 3, 1989. It was one of the council areas created across the federation that year by the then military administration of General Ibarhim Babangida. It has its administrative headquaters in Ifetedo. Carved out of the erstwhile Oranmiyan Local Government, Ife South Local Government was formerly called Oranmiyan South East Local Government. Since its inception the local government has been governed by ten different administrators (including the present administration). Since this administration came into being on March 31, 2004. It has witnessed meaningful development, as attested to by the people of the local government area. |
